In this talk we explore the role standards play in facilitating international trade and improving product quality, safety and interoperability.  We will go into detail about:

• the standards development process
• who is involved in creating standards
• how you can influence the content of standards
• the current standards under development and new work being proposed
• the structure of standards committees and future trends for standards.

We will then discuss the British Fluid Power Association's involvement in managing the BSI technical committees and channelling their own expertise to ensure the UK committees have a key role in developing international standards.
