Train Your Staff to Assess Staff
Train your staff to assess staff in the workplace and narrow your skills gap.
Very often the best people to train others in company-specific tasks are those that are already doing the job. If you train one member of staff, they can then pass on their knowledge to many within your own organisation.
Train the Trainer Assessor
We can teach your experienced staff to become your industry specific trainers and assessors to deliver courses, workshops and tool-box talks. We address everything from course design to interpersonal skills. At the same time, you’re giving your trainers tools concerning not only what to teach, but how to teach them.
Invest in Training
Training is an investment in the future of any organisation and its employees. Managers are understandably concerned about the payback. Building skills and improving knowledge helps companies stay competitive. However, if there is a larger group to train than the budget will allow, a company may benefit from training experienced staff within the organisation, for groups of employees, or mentors for small groups and individuals. This will enable employers to maximise their training investment. Benefits may include:
-
Fast, positive results
-
Promotes peer-to-peer training.
-
Leads to consistent industry training.
-
Improved employee retention.
-
Subject put into company context and targeted.
-
Formation of internal alliances and teams.
-
Training delivered at the coal-face.
-
Improvement in specific skills and behaviours
-
Improvement in confidence, motivation and performance
-
Demonstration of commitment to individuals and their development
-
Facilitation of adoption of new management style or culture
-
Less chance of skills fade as the trainer assessor is there to train and mentor until the new skills become a habit.
-
Less workplace down-time as trainees don’t have to travel off-site for training.
-
Upskills an organisation’s staff more quickly.
-
Becoming an employer of choice
Imparting Knowledge
Knowledge can be imparted more frequently and with greater relevance when you have a trainer assessor onsite supporting the individuals learning in their actual working environment. Taking the operators away from their day job for just a few minutes at a time to demonstrate the best approach for a particular task, getting the operator to carry out the task and then critique them doing the job for real. This all sounds very simple but the improvement in morale, confidence and performance of the staff can be significant.
Rather than being an imposition on the new trainer assessor it should be a recognition of their behaviours and skills. Being a trained trainer assessor should be given status, and not be seen as just asking them to do additional tasks.
Certification
The staff you choose as your trainer assessors should be skilled, well-motivated and experienced employees. The Certificate in Assessing Vocational Competence (CAVA) makes them think about all aspects of what training and assessing is about.
